Athenian Shipment Manager is the WooCommerce fulfillment operations layer for the Athenian Platform. It bridges the gap between standard WooCommerce order records and the real operational work of packing orders, retrieving shipping rates, applying selected rates, generating carrier labels, tracking partial shipments, reconciling vendor-originated fulfillment updates, and communicating shipment progress back to customers.

The plugin adds a dedicated Shipment Manager admin workspace and a role-gated frontend packing station through ath_shipment_manager. Operators can scan or enter an order ID, review order items, capture package weight and dimensions, retrieve available WooCommerce shipping rates, apply selected rates, generate labels through registered carrier bridges, and mark an order as packed. Each packing event can be stored as an ath_shipment record and linked back to the WooCommerce order.

For stores shipping across multiple packages, vendors, dates, or fulfillment stages, Athenian Shipment Manager adds a line-level partial-shipment system. It can track shipped quantities by order item, register a Partially Shipped order status, display shipment badges, show shipment status in WooCommerce order previews, and send customer partial-shipment emails manually or automatically.

Within the broader Athenian ecosystem, Shipment Manager connects carrier plugins, vendor routing, dropship updates, Platform Core vendor metadata, WooCommerce shipping calculations, label-generation hooks, and support visibility into one shipment source of truth.

outside the full WordPress admin.

Shipment Records Persist packing and label events as hidden ath_shipment records linked to WooCommerce orders.
  • Supports scanner-friendly order ID entry for warehouse packing workflows.
  • Stores the latest shipment reference on the order with _ath_sm_last_shipment_id.
  • Adds operational admin screens for Dashboard, Packing Station, Shipments, and Settings.
  • Includes browser-device foundations for WebHID scales, WebBluetooth, WebSerial, WebUSB, and TSPL label printing workflows.

Rates & Labels

Retrieve Shipping Rates, Apply Quotes, and Generate Labels Through Carrier Bridges

Shipment Manager can calculate WooCommerce shipping rates for a loaded order,
apply selected rates back to the order, and call registered carrier integrations
for label generation and label download handling.

Rate Retrieval
Use WooCommerce shipping calculations to surface available order rates
Rate Application
Replace order shipping items with the selected quote and update totals
Carrier Bridge
Allow UPS, USPS, FedEx, and other carrier plugins to register label callbacks

Shipping Layer How It Helps
WooCommerce Rates Routes calculations through the native WooCommerce shipping engine for compatibility with existing methods.
Octolize Bridge Detects Flexible Shipping, WP Desk, Octolize, UPS, FedEx, DHL, and related rate plugins without relying on unstable internals.
Carrier Registry Uses ath_sm_registered_carriers so carrier plugins can expose supported method IDs and label callbacks.
Label Persistence Stores normalized label payloads on the order and, where possible, on the latest shipment record.
  • Stores shipping quote data in keys such as _ath_sm_shipping_quotes, _ath_sm_shipping_applied, and _ath_sm_shipping_quote_cost.
  • Persists generated label summaries under _ath_sm_generated_label.
  • Supports inline PDF streaming or redirect-based label download when a label URL is available.
  • Provides AJAX actions for order lookup, rates, applying rates, generating labels, downloading labels, and test TSPL labels.

Partial Fulfillment

Track Line-Level Shipments Across Warehouses, Vendors, and Fulfillment Stages

The embedded partial-shipment module records shipped quantities by line item,
syncs vendor shipment updates, adds customer-facing shipment badges, and can
notify customers when only part of an order has shipped.

Fulfillment Layer Operational Purpose
Line-Level Quantities Track shipped and remaining quantities per WooCommerce order item instead of relying only on order status.
Partial Status Register and use a Partially Shipped order status when only some physical items are fulfilled.
Dropship Sync Listen for ab_wcds_vendor_order_update_received and reconcile vendor shipment updates into the master order.
Customer Emails Send WooCommerce partial-shipment emails manually or automatically when shipment quantities change.

One shipment truth inside WooCommerce:
Shipment Manager helps teams see which items have shipped, what remains,
which vendor fulfilled each line, what label was generated, and whether
the customer should receive a partial-shipment update.

  • Stores partial-shipment records in _ab_psm_shipments and item totals in _ab_psm_item_totals.
  • Reads Athenian Platform Core item metadata such as _apc_vendor_id, _apc_vendor_name, and _apc_origin_json.
  • Registers the WooCommerce email class customer_partial_shipment.
  • Builds toward customer shipment timelines, package-level tracking cards, vendor dashboards, scan-to-confirm packing, and shipment export tools.
