Class Overview

Class Description

This opening class gives learners a practical, plain-language foundation in modern artificial intelligence. Participants identify common examples of AI in everyday, educational, and workplace settings, learn key terms, and discuss what AI tools can and cannot do.

Across one on-location meeting and one online meeting, learners explore generative AI at a nontechnical level, including how systems use patterns to generate text, why responses may be useful but imperfect, and how hallucinations, bias, missing context, and outdated information can affect results.
