Module v1.0 · Required
Protect Accounts, Devices, and Information
Map what matters and apply practical authentication, update, backup, access, and data-handling habits.
Create a simple digital-safety context map and select proportionate controls for accounts, devices, information, and access.
Identify what needs protection
Connect digital safety to real people, services, information, and consequences.
Start with a practical map rather than a product list. Identify the accounts, devices, information, people, services, vendors, and physical contexts that support the work. Note who needs access, what would happen if access or integrity were lost, what information is sensitive, and which services or people are dependencies.
Useful categories include identity and authentication, business and personal information, customer or employee records, devices, email and messaging, cloud storage, payment or scheduling services, backups, vendors, and recovery contacts. The goal is a shared picture of priorities and decisions, not a perfect inventory.
- Important accounts, devices, information, and services are identified
- Owners and authorized users are known for critical resources
- Sensitive information and likely impact are described at an appropriate level
- Dependencies, recovery contacts, and unknowns are recorded
