Module v1.0 · Required
Scope the Facility and Map the Operating Context
Define the facility's service promise, stakeholders, assets, dependencies, and boundaries before changing maintenance work.
Create a usable facility context map that connects service expectations to assets, stakeholders, constraints, and accountable decisions.
Start with the service context
Make the facility's purpose and operating commitments visible.
Facilities work exists to support people, property, service continuity, and organizational outcomes. Begin with the service promise: who uses the space, what must remain available, what experience is expected, what hours or response commitments apply, and what conditions require immediate escalation.
Name the accountable owner, facilities lead, occupants or customers, vendors, finance or procurement partner, safety and security partners, and the person who can pause work or authorize a material change. A clean operating map prevents maintenance activity from becoming disconnected from the service it is meant to protect.
- Facility purpose, users, service hours, and critical functions are stated
- Owners, approvers, vendors, and escalation contacts are identified
- Service-level expectations and unacceptable interruptions are documented
- Local safety, access, code, contract, and qualified-person boundaries are acknowledged
