Class Overview

Class Description

Class 2 meets Thursday, August 13 and Tuesday, August 18, 2026, from 6:00–8:00 p.m. Central. This class develops the vocabulary and sentence-building skills learners need after completing basic pronunciation, greetings, and introductions.

Learners practice high-frequency words for people, places, classroom objects, and everyday items; personal pronouns such as ako = I, ikaw/ka = you, siya = he/she, tayo/kami = we, and sila = they; and question words such as Ano? = What? and Sino? = Who?

The class introduces the beginner-friendly idea of Tagalog markers: ang for the focused person or thing, ng for object/relationship or ownership-like links, and sa for location, direction, or recipient. Learners build short statements and questions such as Nasa bahay ako = I am at home and Gusto ko ng kape = I want coffee.

Instruction includes instructor modeling, pronunciation support, listening prompts, substitution drills, sentence-building cards, guided translation, pair question-and-answer practice, short written responses, and practical speaking activities. Each meeting includes one connected two-hour independent assignment, for 4 instructor-led hours and 4 assignment hours.
